The NS, or Name Server records of a domain name, point out which servers deal with the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a given host company for your domain name is the most effective way to forward it to their system and all its sub-records are going to be taken care of on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), etc, so if you need to change any of these records, you will be able to do it via their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain address show the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to retrieve the DNS records of the domain you are trying to reach. That way the site you will see is going to be retrieved from the correct location. The name servers normally have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and every single domain name has at least two NS records. There's no practical difference between the two prefixes, so which one a host company will use depends only on their preference.

NS Records in Cloud Hosting

The innovative Hepsia CP, included with with our cloud hosting packages, will enable you to handle the name servers of any domain name registered through our company with just a couple of mouse clicks, so even though you may have never had a website hosting plan or a domain address before, you'll not encounter any troubles. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, has a very user-friendly interface and it will permit you to edit the NS records of any domain or even a number of domain names together. In addition we provide you with the ability to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for every single domain address registered in the account just as easily and all you need for that is a couple of IPs - either ours, if you are going to use the child NS to forward the domain name to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you will use the new records to redirect the domain name to their system. Different from other providers, we don't charge extra for providing this additional DNS management service.
