Password Protected Directories
Discover how to create a safe and user-only area in your web site with password-protected directories.
If you would like keep some content concealed from the public eye, you can enable password protection for a certain folder - either the main Internet site folder or another one below it. In case this option is activated, a pop-up shall appear each time someone attempts to open the folder in question or clicks on a direct link that goes a few levels deeper, so login information will be needed for www.domain.com/folder/image.jpg if you have secured only the domain.com folder. When the credentials are not valid, a “403 Forbidden” message will appear and there isn't any way to get around this restriction, so you can rest assured that nobody will be able to access the protected content. The feature could be beneficial in various cases - if only a number of individuals need to be able to see specific files, if you are developing a website and you do not want people to see it prior to it being completed, etc.

With the password protection tool supplied with every cloud hosting package deal which we provide, you'll be able to protect any content which you have in your account with just a few mouse clicks. Because the tool is an element of our ground breaking Hepsia CP, it features the exact same simple interface and you will not need any special skills to use it. Once you go to the Password Protection section, you will need to select one of the domains or subdomains you have in the account and then choose whether the protection should be activated for the main folder or for a subfolder. Then enter the username and the password that you want and you'll be ready. A small padlock symbol within the File Manager section will tell you that a certain folder is password-protected. In the same way you'll be able to add multiple usernames and passwords for the same folder if you want several people to have their own login credentials.
